In 1984 Robert took part in the first programming class offered at Watson Chapel High School, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, this sparked his interest in computing. After a stint in retail at Dillard’s and Radio Shack, Robert graduated with his degree in Computer Information Systems at UA Monticello and began working at Arkansas Systems in 1994.

Robert worked for 8 years at Arkansas Systems/ARKSYS/Euronet Worldwide. He began as an entry level programmer, and moved into delivery, R&D, Development Manager and eventually worked as a consultant. During his time as Development Manager he was responsible for Y2K changes for the entire product suite at the company. He spent time travelling to work with customers in Guam, Greece, Aruba, Curacao, Indonesia, Hungary, and Romania, installing and certifying banking networks, working with Y2K contractors, and consulting with different banks on optimization projects. This exposure introduced him to the joys of international travel, and working with people from around the world.

From 2003 -2006 Robert continued his banking IT career working for Jack Henry and Associates in Monett, Missouri as a Programmer. Later, he worked for Fiserv CBS Worldwide in Lake Mary, Florida on their implementation of Health savings account software.
In 2006 Robert, and his family, moved back to Arkansas to Siloam Springs taking a Development Manager role at Dayspring Cards. Robert managed a small development team that developed and maintained the Warehouse management, and proprietary card development software. He was responsible for championing, and implementing a Workflow management solution that replaced a legacy system and greatly streamlined a complex production process. Beginning in 2012 Robert transferred to Hallmark Greeting Cards in Kansas City to begin the role of PCI analyst with full responsibility for Hallmarks PCI Report on Compliance (ROC).

In 2013 Robert began his journey at Walmart managing the Informix DBA team. Robert has said joining Walmart is the closest he has come to the accountability and ownership he had working at Arkansas Systems.
